The daily instruction isn’t like a typical lesson. You spend much more time with the instructor and the group therefore the learning is much less formal, less intense and more fun. Everyone is learning the same things at the same speed thus there is minimal waiting around and a natural support network around you.

Of course there is formal teaching, practicing and perfecting, but it’s more relaxed and there is plenty of free time to enjoy the beach with mates or join the GO Mammoth reps.

Area:

Hyères is situated in the South of France on the Mediterranean coast, it is the oldest resort in the French Riviera. With over 30 km of white sandy beaches, 3 beautiful and unspoilt islands and an average 300 days of sunshine per year Hyères has been a popular water-sport destination for many years. The Almanarre bay offers particularly good conditions for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. Throughout the year there are a number of prestigious regattas and competitions held in Hyères and a number of top professionals choose to base themselves in Hyères as the ideal spot.

The Accommodation:

Your package is based on sharing a room with up to 4 other people (keeping groups together). Twin rooms are available for a small supplement.

Please note: On Sunday arrival, please check in anytime from 8am. Early check-in (Saturday) is available for an additional fee. All guests will need to check-out by 1pm on Saturday.

Amenities:

Our accommodation is set in a beautiful location in a pine forest right on the beach overlooking the Iles d’Or. It has a wonderful restaurant and bar right on the beach with idyllic sea views. Outside the centre there is a tennis court and volleyball court. The centre has a fleet of quality watersport equipment including catamarans, windsurfs, kite-surfs and sea kayaks.

Dining:

The food is served buffet style each day. Breakfast is yogurts, cereals, fruit juice, coffee and bread – don’t be surprised to see that the coffee, tea or hot chocolate is taken French style – in a soup bowl ! Dinner is a 4 course buffet – typically a salad bar style starter, choice of 3 or 4 main courses – most often including fish, cheese selection, fruit, dessert and ice-cream freezer. Any special dietary requirements should be made known to us prior to your departure date. Generally vegetarians will find a wide enough choice within the buffet.

INSURANCE

As with all holidays, it’s important that you purchase adequate travel insurance for your trip. You should check with the provider that you’re covered for water-sports activities. If you are a British Citizen you should also apply and carry with you an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card).

GETTING TO HYERES

Hyeres is relatively easy to get to but you need to plan ahead and work out the best options depending on your budget.

By Plane:

We recommend SkyScanner to find the best deal to Toulon-Hyères Airport (the closest airport – 5km away from our accommodation). You can get flights for as low as £40 if booked in advance!

Airport transfers:

Unfortunately there are no shared transfer options available here but the local bus runs in the direction of Giens-La Tour Fondue and you need to jump off at stop ‘La Bergerie’ (pronounced La Bercheri). This costs about €2.50 and our accommodation is located 150m from the bus stop. Otherwise taxis are readily available to take you to accommodation for roughly €18 – €25 each way depending on the time of day.

By Train:

During the summer there are daily TGV (fast train) services from Paris to Hyères. The train station is approximately 7km from the resort and taxis are readily available to take you to the accommodation and cost about €20 – €30 depending on the time of day.

To catch the local bus, you will need line 67 which departs from outside the train station.
