Exit Wandsworth Town Station and turn right onto Old York Road. Cross over Wandsworth High Street onto Garratt Lane. Pass the Southside shopping centre and turn right onto Mapleton Cresent. At the end take a right onto Mapleton Road and enter the park. The Netball courts are on your right just past the playground.
Levels of play
BEGINNER
Are you a netball newbie? Want to learn the basics rather than playing competitive matches?
Our Beginner league will:
- Introduce or re-introduce you to the rules of the game
- Help you develop your netball skills
- Improve your general fitness making you more match-ready
- Develop awareness, positioning and co-operation within your team
- Prepare you to move to a recreational netball league after 1-2 seasons
What to expect each week:
- Emphasis on learning and developing match skills and preparing players to enter a recreational league at the end of the season
- Each weekly session will consist of a 40 minute friendly match
RECREATIONAL
In our recreational league, you can expect casual fun matches with a low degree of competition.
The Recreational League is for you if:
- You’re looking to have fun and get fit, but you won’t loose sleep if you lose the game!
- You haven’t played Netball in a while
- You want the emphasis to be on ‘fun’ rather than ‘mega-competitive’
- You’re a group of friends/colleagues entering a netball team for the first time
What to expect each week:
- You’ll take part in a 40 minute, casual, moderately competitive league match
INTERMEDIATE
The temperature in the Intermediate level heats up a bit more compared to the Recreational tier.
In our Intermediate leagues:
- Participants have a solid grasp of the rules, and want to step things up a touch
- Once you’ve played a few seasons at the Recreational level this is a natural step if you’re looking for that extra challenge
- More experienced teams often can enter comfortably at this level
- Depending how long since you played, if you played at 1st team at school or 1st-2nd at university you should be ready to dive straight into an int league.

- You’ll take part in a 40 minute competitive league match against opponents with a good degree of skill

Netball in Wandsworth runs as a weekly evening league, with teams playing one scheduled match each week. Fixtures, umpires and equipment are all organised in advance, so you simply arrive, play your match and head off — or stay social afterwards if you like. Many players joining netball in Wandsworth are beginners or returning to the sport after time away e.g. since school. Leagues are recreational, with a friendly atmosphere and umpires who help keep games flowing, making it a good option if you’re new to the sport or are a bit rusty. We also offer more competitive netball in Wandsworth as “intermediate” level leagues if you’re a more regular player. When you sign up for Wandsworth netball, you’re signing up for the full season rather than individual matches. This helps keep teams consistent and ensures everyone gets regular game time, while still allowing flexibility if you occasionally miss a week. Players usually wear comfortable sports clothing and trainers suitable for the court surface. Bibs and balls are provided, so there’s no need to bring specialist equipment to play netball in Wandsworth. If you miss a match, your team can continue playing as long as enough players attend. Teams playing netball in Wandsworth often arrange cover informally, and missing the occasional game is completely normal in social leagues. Just make sure your team has enough players to play a full game, to avoid incurring a forfeit. No you are not required to be affiliated to England Netball as GO Mammoth is not affiliated. We don’t run trial or training netball sessions in Wandsworth. However we do offer a full refund/money back promise if you don’t love your first game! That’s how confident we are.. You are also welcome to visit the league in advance of joining to watch from the sidelines if you’d like – but please contact us to ensure you can gain access to the facility. |
